《欧美文化概论》前身为《欧洲文化》、《美国文化》、《英美概况》,自建院以来即有此文化类课程;2000年以后,课程体系逐渐完善成熟,向规模化发展。近五年,《欧洲文化》和《美国文化》两门公共课的本科生选课人数达到1400名,专业课的选课人数也达500余人。2007年,在此两课的基础上,新建《英美概况》一课,一年之后,由于英语专业建设的需要,经校内外专家多次论证,三课正式合并,定名为《欧美文化概论》,分两个学期讲授,现为英语专业及商务英语专业的必修基础课;同时,该课程作为公共选修课也对全校其他专业的本科生开放。
