Course Evaluation

The grading system for this course is based on the students’ academic performance. Students’ overall performance is evaluated according to the following parts:

Class Participation (10 points): Attendance and discussion in this course will be well evaluated. Students are encouraged to give their own opinions openly on the international trade problems discussed in class. Class performance is evaluated throughout the course.

Homework (20 points): Students are required to finish the homework before deadline. There are totally four (4) take-home exercises for 5 points each one in a semester. They are just about the basic conception and application of the core theories in international trade.

Mid-term Examination (20 points): Students are required to finish the exam with the well-understanding of the first half of the context of this course, i.e. Part 1 (Trends in Global Trade) and Part 2 (Core Theory-Classic International Trade Theories).

Final Examination (50 points): This final exam will be a close-book exam of 2 hours in length. Students need to understand whole contents of the course, while the exam could be only test students some parts of it.

The final grade will be classified as different groups as the table below shows:

Note: Although we did not take account of Term Papers here, they could be introduced into our grading system in the near future, if we reveal that term papers are better tool to be used to show students’ performance. Currently, we provide some topics possibly used for term papers, which are usually hot topics in international trade, for our class discussion.
